Admission Requirements for Masters Degree
Candidates for the Masters Degree in Educational Management must have one of the following:

  1. A good first degree honour in Education with a minimum of second class, lower Division.
  2. A good first degree honours in other discipline with a minimum of 2nd class, lower division plus post graduate diploma in education at credit level.
  3. Third class honours degree in education, plus post graduate diploma in education at credit level.
  4. HND with PGDE at credit level.
  5. In all cases, candidates may be-expected to undergo a selection process involving tests and/or interview.
  6. Evidence that they meet the matriculation requirements of the university of their choice. Evidence of NYSC discharge certificate or exemption certificate as required.

Duration of the programme

  1. The full-Time Masters Degree in Educational Management shall run for a minimum of four semesters and a maximum of six semesters.
  2. The Part-Time programme shall run for a minimum of six semesters and a maximum of eight semesters.
  3. For extension beyond the maximum period, a special permission of the University Senate shall be required.

Admission Requirements for Doctor of Philosophy in Education Management (Ph.D)
The criteria for admission into the PhD programme in educational management shall be as follows:

  1. All candidates must have a masters degree in relevant area of specialization with a minimum CGPA OF 4.0 or 60%.
  2. Holders of M.Phil Degree in education.
  3. In all cases, candidate may be expected to undergo a selection process involving tests and /or interviews.
  4. The university matriculation requirements must be satisfied.

Duration of programme

  1. The Full-Time PhD programme in educational Management should run for a minimum of six (6) semesters or a maximum of ten (10) semesters.
  2. The Part-Time programme should run for a maximum of eight (8) semesters, and a maximum of twelve (12) semesters.
  3. For extension beyond the maximum period, a special permission of the university senate shall be required.

Philosophy
The philosophy of the programme is to provide the students with in-depth knowledge, skills and technical know-how in Health Education, Physical Education and Recreation as professionals in this areas; with this view, the department offers courses that cover a broad spectrum of each of the above listed areas to enhance the students professional efficiency in teaching and research at all levels of the educational institutions and in service to the community and organizations such as the sports council or commission.

Objectives
The programmes are therefore designed:

  1. To produce well qualified persons who will serve as teachers of health and physical education in secondary and tertiary institutions;
  2. To produce competent manpower for service in rehabilitation institutions as health physical and occupational therapists;
  3. To produce competent power to serve as community, hospital and industrial recreation organizers;
  4. To produce highly qualified persons who can serve as administrators or directors of health programmes or sports and organizing secretaries;
  5. To offer students the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skill they require to contribute to their personal survival and national development through health, physical education and recreation;
  6. To produce manpower to initiate and undertake research in the areas of health education, physical education and recreation.

The aims and objectives of postgraduate programmes in Education are:

  1. Develop professional expertise of students.

Introduction
In recognition of the growing needs for graduates of Technology and Vocational Education in all its ramification, to acquire more technological and vocational competences by upgrading their academic standard and the needs for high level manpower in the areas of specializations in the world of work, the Department of Technology and Vocational Education of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology offers academic programmes leading to the award of:

Philosophy
The graduate programme in the Department of Technology and Vocational Education places emphasis on the functionality of her programmes vis-a-vis the industrial demands in the world of work. It is indeed geared towards making graduates become useful to themselves and to the Society by increasing the utility value of the skills and competences acquired.

General Objectives
The main aim of the postgraduate programmes is to provide advance practical approach to technological and vocational development of the students, thereby increasing the employability of the graduates in the world of work. It is hoped that at the end of the programmes, students must have demonstrated practical ability to function in a paid or self employment as well as demonstrate ability to carry out original and independent, scientific research in the area of specialization.

Masters of Science (M.Sc) Degree Programme

Aims and Objectives

  1. To impact specialized skills in various areas of technology and vocation Education consistent with current practices in industries and technology based institutions.
  2. To produce innovative and creative Technology and Vocational Educators armed with indepth knowledge of skills and competences to meet the demands and challenges of a growing industrial economy.
  3. To help provide high level professional human resources for the country's tertiary institutions and industries.
  4. To provide opportunities for higher degrees for qualified graduate teachers and other technical workers desiring to engage in such programmes on part-time basis.

In addition to the objectives of the programme at Master Degree level. The following aims and objectives are for Ph.Dprogramme.

  1. To provide high level human resources in technology and vocational education: that will be well equipped to initiate policies and programmes for technological development.
  2. To train graduates with analytical potentials aimed at initiating solutions to societal problems through technology and vocational education.

General Learning Outcomes for Masters and Ph.D

    Graduates should understand and demonstrate the ethical considerations and environmental ramifications of their decisions.

    Graduates should have global perspective, based on an understanding of the national and global environment of the education system.

At the end of the programme, Masters graduates in Education should be adequately equipped with relevant knowledge, research competence, professional skills and attitudes to effectively function and practice as high level manpower in their respective disciplines.

Admission Requirements
Candidates for the Master's Degree in Education must have one of the following:

  3. A good first degree honors in other disciplines with a minimum of 2nd class lower division plus Postgraduate Diploma In Education from a recognized university obtained at credit level.
  4. Third class honors degree in Education plus Postgraduate Diploma in Education at credit level
